Summary:  When tragedy strikes the workplace, there is no easy or painless way to inform family members, but it can be done.  Whether it is the safety professional or someone else in a leadership role, what happens will have long-term ramifications for the family, the company, and the person carrying the news.  This presentation will identify practical do’s and don’ts regarding how to prepare yourself emotionally and tactically, reducing risk by controlling the setting, what to say and not to say, and enlisting resources and support.
