Hello |
|
|
Ten years ago. It feels like a lifetime. It feels like yesterday. Sometimes it feels like it’s today. Whereas so much of our lives are dominated by clocks and calendars, tragedy distorts time and can disorient us to its passage. Past. Present. Future. For some people, what happened then predominates such that present and future become invisible. Others wish to pretend that it never occurred and to sprint into the future. Avoidance of or preoccupation with any of those time elements can inhibit resilience and growth.
This edition of PracticePoints is written for people in positions of leadership and focuses upon “caring for those who care for those”. Many eyes are on you as people look to their leaders to chart a measured, balanced approach to this significant anniversary. The honor afforded those who died will be equated to the perceived value of the living. Over-reaction will be judged and mistrusted. The articles and resources we included attempt to fully and respectfully acknowledge the past, provide suggestions for life-giving present actions, and encourage strategies that enhance continued transitions toward growth.
We are not victims. We are survivors.
Crisis Care Network wishes to sincerely acknowledge all people and businesses impacted by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We reach out especially to those who lost loved ones and colleagues on that awful day. We were all affected but as has often been quoted, “All gave some, but some gave all.”
